Review: Eat. Smart Bathroom Scale - Honest And Truly! When I started my fitness journey back at the beginning of the year, I quickly realized that I didn’t really know where I was starting from. My scale was no longer working, and it was cumbersome to weigh myself at the gym in front of people each week. I understand how important it is to have an accurate and easy to use scale. I weigh my food regularly, especially when I’m baking, and having a quality scale is key. Needless to say, I was excited to receive and review a bathroom scale from Eat.
Smart. Right off the bat, I loved that the scale came in a box that didn’t have a ton of extra packaging. And even better, it had a handle. I know that’s a small thing – and perhaps silly to some – but I am prone to dropping packages like this, and the last thing I want to do is ruin my scale before I’ve ever used it.

The fact that Eat. Smart thought about this little detail in the packaging is something I appreciate.
From the time I brought the box upstairs until I had the scale calibrated and working was under three minutes. That’s a plus for me. Removing the scale from the packaging, it was easy to see what was included. In case I missed the batteries, Eat. Smart alertly also put a reminder sticker on the Styrofoam protectors that the batteries were located on the underside of the protector. My only confusion was the white thing on the left side, but I’ll get to that yet! Installing the batteries was very simple, as you would expect.
From there, all I needed to do was calibrate the scale once I had it on a hard surface. I simply need to press lightly on the surface without actually stepping onto the scale and let it figure out what zero pounds is. It took only a few seconds before the screen showed a “C” that it had been calibrated and was ready to be used.
Stepping on the scale for the first time surprised me a little. It sinks down, which is something I’m not used to. Unlike most scales, the Eat.
Smart Precision Digital Bathroom scale has four feet that adjust to better account for any abnormality or unevenness in the flooring. You still have to use it on a hard surface for it to be accurate, of course, but the sensitivity of the feet allowing the scale to move actually helps increase the precision of the scale. It took a little bit to get used to. One of the more fun things about the scale is how it measures weight. Most scales will vary between pounds and kilograms. The Eat. Smart Precision Digital Bathroom Scale also measures weight in stones.
Call me geeky, but I love that. Of course, each time you lift the scale to change the metric for measurement, you do have to recalibrate it. It would be nice if you could reach the lever to make that adjustment from the back of the scale so you didn’t have to move it. On the plus side, recalibration is quick and easy. The scale gets points for using new technology since the last time I bought a scale. Instead of tapping it on and weighting for it to calibrate, you can step on the scale and get your weight within a couple seconds. I appreciate the added convenience.
The Eat. Smart Precision Digital Bathroom Scale has a large and bright readout, so even my husband could read it without his glasses. As with most scales, the measurements are done in increments of 0. My only confusion was the white “thing” on the back of the packaging. Even after holding it up and playing with the button that depressed on the back, I couldn’t figure out what it was. I was stumped. I was planning to call customer service to ask for help in identifying what its purpose was when I pulled the white knob on the side of it, just for fun. Sliding it up and down didn’t seem to do anything, but I could pull it out.
And I finally discovered what it was! It’s a measuring tape so that in addition to tracking your weight loss, you can also track your inches loss.
It’s brilliant (although I would have loved to see it mentioned in the manual so I didn’t feel so silly not knowing what it was). I wrote earlier about how when losing weight, it’s as important to focus on the inches as it is the pounds. This device is so much easier to use than my regular measuring tape.
You slide the white knob into the hole on the opposite side and then depress the button on the back to take up the slack to measure any part of your body you want. The concave portion of the measuring tape box means that you’re getting a more accurate measurement than I was with my old fashioned tape.
It was so easy to use, and I love that Eat. Smart is focusing on both sides of a healthy weight change. This is staying right by my scale so that I can remember to use it when I do my weigh ins. Fingers crossed that using my new tools will help keep me focused on my larger (pun intended) goal, but regardless I’m happy to have another weapon in my arsenal.
